Rennes 2025

June 22-27, 2025 Rennes, France

Dear colleagues

On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee, we have the pleasure to welcome you for BioEM2025 that will take place in the city of Rennes, at the heart of the Bretagne region, in France, from June 22nd to 27th 2025.

BioEM is the largest and most significant international conference worldwide in the area of bioelectromagnetics, which attracts academic and industrial participants from all over the world. BioEM 2025 will be the fourth annual meeting of the newly-created BioEM society, after the merger between the Bioelectromagnetics Society (BEMS) and the European BioElectromagnetics Association (EBEA).

Couvent des Jacobins

The Couvent des Jacobins is an iconic, fully-renovated 14th century monastery, in the heart of the iconic city of Rennes, capital of the Bretagne region. In addition to providing an iconic setting for the conference, hundreds of restaurants are in very close proximity to the Couvent des Jacobins. The Couvent des Jacobins is easily accessible, since the metro arrives right at its door!

The city of Rennes

Rennes, who used to be called Condate 2,000 years ago, is the capital of the Bretagne region with a population of 200,000. Located at only 90 minutes from Paris by high-speed train (TGV), and among the top 10 of France urban areas, Rennes is not only rich of a 2000-year old history, but is also at the forefront of research and innovation, hosting over 60,000 students and 130 research laboratories. The area of Rennes is well-known for its leadership role in the field of healthcare research, defense and cybersecurity.

Two lines of a recently-finalized metro will take you conveniently and efficiently over the city, right from the Couvent des Jacobins. The city itself is extremely bike- and pedestrian-friendly. Numerous opportunities of sightseeing await near Rennes, from the majestic Mont Saint-Michel to the prehistoric stone alignments of Carnac, to the largest medieval castle in Europe (Château de Fougères), or the mythic Forest of Brocéliande.

The Bretagne Region

The Bretagne region is home to a rich history that blends facts and legends, such as the myth of King Arthur. With a wide access to the sea, and a diversity of landscapes, the Bretagne region has a unique identity, which stems from the fact that Bretagne used to be an independent kingdom until the 16th century, where it was annexed to France following a major defeat of the army of Bretagne in the town of Saint-Aubin du Cormier (close to Rennes).

BioEM 2025 will be the occasion for you to discover the unique architecture and vibrant culture of Bretagne through its traditional music, night festivals (fest-noz) and unique food specialities (such as “galettes” and “crêpes” or fresh seafood).
